Today the MP for North Antrim, Ian Paisley and the MP for South Antrim, Paul Girvan met with the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling, to discuss a bridge connecting Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
The Secretary of State for Transport stated that he would be in contact with the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer in order to discuss a feasibility project which would investigate the economics of the bridge.
The proposed bridge could be placed at its shortest distance of 13 miles, or at the longest distance of 23 miles, with a similar bridge between Denmark and Sweden providing a possible guide.
Ian Paisley MP stated, “This move from a Red Light to an Amber Light shows progress and is encouraging for a future Green Light.”
